Check out these two dishes at Common Bond Cafe & Bakery, located on the intersection of Westheimer and Dunlavy in Montrose.
The Grilled Cheese is on the lunch menu, which is offered from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm when the kitchen closes on Tuesday through Friday. The cheese used is provolone and bocconcini, or little bites of fresh mozzarella. The broccolini offered a nice crunch while the caramelized onions gave the sandwich a nice sweetness. What made the sandwich perfect was the bread: just the right amount of butter and toasted to perfection.
Common Bond has a variety of pastries and desserts when you walk down the line to order your food. So, I ate the Apple Pie Verrine for dessert. Basically, it is a deconstructed apple pie layered in a small glass. The bottom layer is a nice salted caramel mousse which goes great with the sweet poached apples. The crumble gives a great texture to the dessert while the vanilla ice cream quenelle on top brings it all together.
