Huynh is a very highly-rated Vietnamese restaurant in the EaDo area of Houston. Owned by a Vietnamese family, the restaurant moved to this new location in 2008 from their old location called Pho Huynh in Midtown. With a 96% "like" rating from 300+ reviews on Urbanspoon and 4 stars from 300+ reviews on Yelp, I knew this had to be a spot to try out ASAP. And to add on, they allow you to BYOB for a $2/person charge, which makes it a great pre-gaming location for the nearby sport venues (Dynamo Stadium for Houston Dynamo, Toyota Center for Houston Rockets).
The dinner menu consists of the standard Vietnamese selections, such as Goi Cuon (Spring Rolls), Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Noodle Soup), and Pho (Beef Noodle Soup) with tons of choices of meats to add. There are a variety of choices for the traditional dishes with rice and Vermicelli noodles. Also, they serve dishes "Family Style" for those who want to share with a group, such as Bo Luc Lac (Chunks of Beef Tenderloin Stir-Fried with Peppers & Onions).
I decided to try two dishes on the menu: Banh Uot Thit Nuong as an Appetizer and Com Tam Suon Bi Cha as my Entrée (chose the one with the Fried Egg instead of Shredded Pork). Both dishes tasted authentic and left me hungry to try other dishes. I also chose to try their "homemade" Sua Dau Nanh, because what Vietnamese person doesn't like Soybean Milk? And, I give theirs a thumbs up! Overall, I feel this is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants I have been to in Houston and all my friends that joined for dinner agreed they would come back to dine again.
